THE ACT OF GIVING IS AN ACT OF GOD: 5 WAYS TO BECOME GENEROUS

Carla Andrews - Thursday, March 03, 2016

Living a live of generosity is an act of God that all walks of life must embrace. When we here the word “generosity” or “giving”, there’s one thing that comes out to our mind, and that is “money”. But is it really the only thing to give? Is it the only way to become generous? If giving is all about money, but money it so tight these days. Then many would probably say, “I don’t have money to give away”.

This is actually a wrong perception, because all of us are able to give and become generous, even if you do not have enough money and you don’t have any possession. Don’t you know that being generous is an act of God? Yes, it’s lovely to here that when we think about giving, we need to get it from our wallets or bank accounts and give money/cash. However, that is not the only type of giving we humans are capable for. Yes, money is a very good thing however, there are so many things that we can give aside from money.

Here are the 5 ways to become generous.

1. START BY GIVING LITTLE AND ITS NOT JUST ABOUT MONEY

“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving”. -Mother Teresa

Remember, when it comes to giving or becoming generous, it’s not only about money matters. There are many ways to give especially for those who are in need. You can start it by portraying generosity in your own simple little ways. Think of what you can give aside from money because there are so many.

2. GIVE LOVE

“Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love wherever you go.” -Mother Teresa

When your love is genuine, there’s no need for money. Give love and spread love and your life will be full of love. Love in a way that you must love yourself first before you’re able to love others. Loving yourself is like being generous to your own. It doesn’t need to be money matters or materialistically but also physically, emotionally and spiritually.

3. OFFER YOUR SKILLS

“You have two hands. One to help yourself, the second to help others.” -happyhoureffec.com

We have different skills, different professions and different masterpieces depending on our field of expertise. Don’t you know that by offering your skills to someone, it is a way of giving and also a way of helping? Whenever you offer your skills to somebody, it’s an act of giving and sharing because it helps someone grow and develop the skills they have or perhaps learn something new from you. It’s also a way of volunteering.

4. GIVE TIME TO THE PEOPLE ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE IN NEED

“The greatest gift you can give to someone is your time. Because when you dedicate your time, you are offering a part of your life that you will never get back.” -GodVine.com

Time. It is one of the most precious gifts anyone could ever have. But it must also start in yourself. You must give time to relax and unwind despite the busy world we’re living in. Give time to those people who are in need in a way that you can contribute to their life. You can give time to care for them, you can give time to raise funds for them, you can give time to teach them, you can give time to show them some love and even if life’s not easy, there’s still enough reason to live, smile and be thankful.

5. DONATE (AN ITEM AND EVEN BLOOD)

“Giving is not just about making donation. It is about making a difference”. -Kathy Calvin, CEO & President of the United Nations Foundation

Donation is an act of giving. You can donate anything aside from money such as food for those who are hungry, water for those who are thirsty and home for those who are homeless. You can also donate clothes (new or old), stuff toys, books, school supplies and even blood.

Sometimes we think that it’s the end of our world due to many problems we’re facing but despite all, we must be thankful because we may experience various challenges, still there are thousands of males, females and children who are more suffering than us from poverty, crime, corruption, prostitution and war all over the world. We may not have all the greatest things on earth, there will always be few little things and reasons to smile and be thankful for. Remember, if you are willing to give, you are able to receive more than you already have.
